I promised my Save the Dates this week, hoping that my finishing touches from London would be here, but they aren’t. They should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday, so I hope to show my Save the Dates then.
Right now I am working on my catering details. Mr. J and I have decided on a traditional Italian dinner with old school Southern Deserts. (Me being an Italian Midwestern and him being a German Southern boy we figured this would be a good compromise.)
I met with my caterer Jen, who is amazing, on Friday, and talked. She really understands my vision of what I want. Plus, she offered to set up my centerpieces and order my linens. (She already told me to bring in things for my centerpieces, so she could create a few options for me to chose from. I’m smitten!) What’s not to love?
However, she left me with a daunting task: Picking my linens. I mean, I grew up in a family that had a sit down dinner with the table set (linens, breakable plates, glasses, and silverware) and the food was waiting for you. I knew that when I got married I would have to have this. Not because the wedding industry tells me so, but because that was how I was raised. So with Jennifer taking care of the china order, the glasses, the coffee cups, the shot glasses for the cookies and milk, all I had to do was pick the linens.
I’m a Gemini, not that that is an excuse, but I have a hard time picking out socks for the day without changing my mind 15 times. And they just go on my feet. People will be sitting here, and eating here and conversing here. I had two thoughts: elegant and classy or fun and beautiful. I finally chose (after changing my mind 10 times) fun and beautiful.
