The Ups & Downs of Brides' Hairstyles

Jul09

How much thought have you given to what you're going to do with your lovely tresses on your big day?  Do you go for the chic updo with intricate pinning or do you let it go relaxed and wavy?

Well, what about a happy medium?  Take a look at this gorgeous photograph of Tess, who recently got married to her fiance Adam in California.  She chose to go with a stunning side twist with a vintage flair, only to be matched by her gorgeous vintage wedding dress.

I love Tess' vintage dress. Why don't current designers take a hint and design more dresses with lovely sleeves? When almost every single current gown is sleeveless, they all start to look the same, and where is the originality in that? Vintage dressing is beautiful, but we American girls are so much bigger in stature than our great-grandmothers. New vintage-inspired dresses would be greatly appreciated.

What about us with long hair that has been the same for over 20+ years....My husband to be is not thrilled I might try an up do.....Is there a style more down then up but with flare?
Flowers in the hair are really not my thing.

To be honest I feel the same way about my hair. I want to wear it down, but the veil (if you are wearing one) will cover you hair anyways. I've seen alot of awesome hairstyles just by googling "wedding hairstyles." Just make sure you get with your stylist before the wedding to test it out. The longer your hair is the prettier it will be down....and please...don't do flowers in it!!!

I have a short hair cut that is in a style of a pixie cut. I am wondering if there is something elegant and beatuiful for that type of hair cut. I have a tiara and I am wearing a mantilla veil (spanish veil). I am intergrating a spanish theme and an bit of traditional American wedding theme to my wedding for 3-2010.
As for really long hair there are many ways to intergrate thinbgs in your hair even with a veil. One can use a strand of mini-pearls that come down on to the forehead slightly and then ends up attached to the veil of is attached to the hair with pins. This a goregous look and is very elegant as well. A second thought is for those with very long hair that would like the tradition of wearing it long but with a twist try the style that looks like a pont tail but puled back thru to cover the band holding your hair. That way you get both the long hair styled look with a twist of brillance.

I'm wearing my hair down, it's long, about 5 inches past my shoulders. I'm curling it and may pull part of it in the front back. I'm wearing a tiara, still undecided on whether to wear a veil or not. I'm a second-time bride, and I know current etiquette says I can wear a veil, just not the blusher, but not sure what I want to do.
Anyway, I do love this vintage look hairstyle!! Very pretty, thanks for sharing!

@ TheFutureWife - how funny - I read your post and word for word what you said about your hair, tiara and veil - is exactly what I want to do, too. Smiling
