BrideChat: Holiday Weddings

Nov24

The age-old debate rages on: Does planning a wedding on or around a holiday enhance both celebrations, or are they overly-inconvenient for guests?

Some would say that since family and friends are often scattered around the country (and world!), that planning a wedding around a holiday may save travel expenses, since many guest could be flying to be with their families anyway.

Others argue that it ends up being too much to coordinate, and that weddings unfairly take the focus away from what "should" be celebrated at that time.

And still others go the more diplomatic route, ans say "it depends!"  It depends on which holiday it is, how elaborate the wedding, how far away the family...

What do you think about holiday weddings?

I am having my wedding on July 3rd, so I am all for holiday weddings. We planned a whole wedding weekend and all of our out of town guests that we don't normally get to see will be here with us. All of our guests seemed to be excited about it.

I am having my wedding on December 27 and We have a lot of out of town guests coming. We purposely planned it around the holiday so that our guests wouldnt be spending extra travel money. Most of them travel at the holidays so we just rerouted them. They have all agreed that it was a good way to do it becuase otherwise they wouldn not have been able to afford to come.

I am having my second wedding on December 20. I love Christmas and always wanted a Christmas wedding. My first husband did not want to do much, so I am doing everything the way I have always wanted this time. We are decorating with Christmas trees and poinsettas. My colors are red, silver, and white. My little girl is the flower girl and my niece is the snow girl. My niece will drop snow down the aisle with my little girl dropping rose petals afterward.
