Old School Inspiration

Life Magazine has always incredibly well-known for their photographs. One of the premier publications that documented American living, they highlighted everything from girls dancing in poodle skirts, to the highest of high-fashion celebrations taking place across the country.

Now they'll fascinate and inspire you all over again.

Google announced today that they are now going to host all of the images from Life on their website, and that's where we've been all morning, looking at the most romantic and opulent weddings over the years.

Check out the elegance of Grace Kelly, who married Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956. It's hard to beat the fairytale wedding of a movie star becoming a real life Princess!

Sarah Jessica, Mariah and Katty Perry all make the cut. But come on, Madonna on MTV circa 1984!?!?! That was cool, wasn't it? Anybody?

Move over, diamonds... pearls are making a serious comeback!

Pearls are the oldest known gem and traditionally symbolize purity, innocence, and wealth. And lately they've been enjoying their own renaissance in weddings both lavish and modest.

They can be worn in many ways: You can bundle them around your neck for a trendy look, bead them into your gown, wear them in your hair, or keep it simple with a pair of pearl stud earrings.

Hit the Road, Ike

Beyonce Knowles and Rachel Ray are making Houston brides' dreams come true this year following the devastation of Hurricane Ike.

The Survivor Foundation which serves and assists people devastated by crisis has donated the use of the House Of Dereon for brides and grooms whose wedding facilities were destroyed by Hurricane Ike. The Foundation was created by Beyonce and her family. The first couple to have their wedding ceremony and reception there was Nathan Rhodes and Ronda Lotter on October 10, 2008. And television personality Rachael Ray is making wedding day dreams come true for 33 couples with mass wedding at Minute Maid Park. Brides lost thousands of dollars in deposits when their ceremony venues went out of business after Hurricane Ike. The ceremony will be featured in an episode of her daytime show later this month. Avoid "The Streak"

Even though the sunny weather is behind (most of) us, many brides still want that healthy glow on their wedding day. That's why self-tanners are so popular, but be prepared before you reach for that spray.

Check out a couple of self-tanning tips after the jump...

Always try it out before your wedding day. You don't want to be caught with an uneven tan, or poorly-matched color, and not have the time to fix it! Self-tanning takes some practice, and you don't want to walk down the aisle looking "streaky."

If your tanner does not apply evenly there some things you can do to reduce the "stripes" on your skin. Some household items can help, such as a whitening toothpaste. Place the toothpaste on a wet cloth and scrub it into your skin. It should begin to wash away while you scrub. (You may want to stand in a shower to prevent stains on the floor). You can also try using baking soda or lemon juice to try and scrub the tan away, and then start again, "from scratch."

Like all beauty treatments, tanning requires a learned and practiced technique. If you don't have the time or energy to do it yourself, leave it to the professionals!
