This week on Radio Romance: All I Want by Curtis Peoples
Since releasing his self-titled debut in the Summer of '08, Curtis Peoples has toured with Tyler Hilton, Hanson and many others, and appeared on MTV's SCORE. He's all about big choruses, infectious rhythms and heart-on-his-sleeve romanticism. His new EP comes out December 1st.

This week on Radio Romance:
Wild Is The Wind by David Bowie
When we posted about the best makeout music the other day, we nominated Nina Simone's "Wild Is The Wind," but though it may be perfect for an intimate setting, her version sounds a bit exposed for a public reception.
"Wild Is the Wind" was origonally performed by Johnny Mathis in 1957, and has since been covered or sampled by countless others, including Barbra Streisand, George Michael, Cat Power and TV On The Radio. Nina Simone's breathtaking version is often considered the most essential one, but we also have a soft spot for David Bowie's blue-eyed soul take on it.
Recorded for his 1976 album Station To Station, Bowie's interpretation feels ripped from an unreleased 70's musical: All swooning romanticism and killer rock star swagger.

She by Elvis Costello
Elvis Costello, a musical chameleon who was at the forefront of the first wave of punk and new wave, is often (and deserdly) held up as one of the best songwriters in rock history, but he's also known for his stricking choices in songs to cover. In 1999 he recorded Charles Aznavour's She, a #1 hit in the UK in 1974 that was virtually ignored in the US, for the Julia Roberts film Notting Hill. His trademark nervous energy and biting wit totally left out, we are left with a gorgeous, unselfconsciously romantic ballad.

Make You Feel My Love by Adele
Adele is a 20-year-old soul singer from the UK who has won multiple Grammy Awards, had a #1 multi-platinum album, and was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize while she was still 19! She is also the first person ever to win the BRIT Awards Critics' Choice prize for an album that (at the time) had yet to be released.
Now, with Make You Feel My Love, Adele is brave enough to cover Bob Dylan. And not just any Bob Dylan song, but one that has been famously recorded by Billy Joel, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Neil Diamond, Kelly Clarkson, Bryan Ferry and many others! It could have sounded like a song the world has heard too many times. Instead, she makes it sound both brand new and timeless. Just like love.

Heart by Pet Shop Boys
This one is for all of you '80s babies. One of the most celebrated duos in pop music history, Pet Shop Boys have created an astonishing catalogue of music over the years. They certainly have their share of themes, but naturally we're partial to their love songs! Heart comes off of their sophomore album, 1988's Actually.
Although they originally wrote it for Madonna, she turned it down, so the Boys recorded Heart themselves and took it all the way to #1 for many weeks. It's one of their most simple and straight forward love songs, and also one of our favorites.
BONUS: Pet Shop Boys were recently awarded at the 2009 Brit Awards for their outstanding contribution to British music. Check out their 10 minute, 14 song medley featuring Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers (of the Killers) below.

This week on Radio Romance:
Method of Modern Love by Saint Etienne
One of the premier dance-pop bands of the '90s, United Kingdom's Saint Etienne have always infused clever lyrics with self-awareness into their music. Their first three albums (Foxbase Alpha, So Tough, and Tiger Bay) earned them a huge fanbase and made them beloved by the European dance scene and US Indie Rock kids, alike. The albums that followed strayed away from their usual formula, but more recently, they've returned to their traditional style of pop music.
Method of Modern Love is a new song that comes off of their latest album, London Conversations: The Best of Saint Etienne. While they have been more focused on directing documentaries and films as of late, if this song is any indication of what Saint Etienne has in store, then we're in for a real treat.

My Funny Valentine by Chet Baker
So we're taking the easy way out this week with something a little more classic than we've shown you in the past. Because Valentine's Day is this weekend, we thought we'd present you with one of our favorite Valentine's Day tunes.
Chet Baker created incredible music in the 1950s, and was loved by men and women alike. He really embodied the spirit of jazz, and music in general during his peak. Chet was able to woo not only with his smouldering good-looks, but with his tender and soft words as well - both of which can be sensed in this legend of a love song.

This week on Radio Romance:
Greatest Hit by Annie
Norway's gift to the pop world - Annie is too sweet to resist. When her single Heartbeat was released, she immediately became an underground sensation. Compared to the likes of Kylie Minogue, Annie describes her music as "pop with strange edges." She's won multiple awards in Norway, and she's hoping to break into the American market even further with the release of her second LP, Don't Stop. Greatest Hit was her first smash single, in 1999, and it's still one her most catchy songs to date.
Bonus: Check out the first single, I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me, off of her sophomore album Don't Stop.

10,000 Nights by Alphabeat
First coming into the Danish music scene in the summer of 2007, Alphabeat have gone far extremely quickly. Between the three top 20 singles in Denmark, and currently being on tour with Katy Perry, they are well on their way to becoming a pop-sensation. 10,000 Nights is an upbeat exploration into the land of a movie-caliber romance. When listening, it's hard to resist envisioning yourself anywhere except for the perfect bubble of love that Alphabeat has created. We, personally, wouldn't have it any other way.

This week on Radio Romance:
Misty Roses by Astrud Gilberto
Famous for her jazz and bossa nova in the 1960's, Astrud Gilberto was quick to establish herself with pop hits like The Girl From Ipanema (which she won a Grammy for) and Fly Me To The Moon.
Misty Roses is an enchanting masterpiece by this Brazilian legend. It brings to mind the early morning reflection of the sunrise bouncing off of a flower petal, and it definitely makes us want to wake up every morning with the feelings of love and peacefulness that it exudes.
