BrideChat: Holiday Weddings

Nov24

The age-old debate rages on: Does planning a wedding on or around a holiday enhance both celebrations, or are they overly-inconvenient for guests?

Some would say that since family and friends are often scattered around the country (and world!), that planning a wedding around a holiday may save travel expenses, since many guest could be flying to be with their families anyway.

Others argue that it ends up being too much to coordinate, and that weddings unfairly take the focus away from what "should" be celebrated at that time.

And still others go the more diplomatic route, ans say "it depends!"  It depends on which holiday it is, how elaborate the wedding, how far away the family...

What do you think about holiday weddings?

Hollywood Romance

Aug11

Here's a cute little piece (part 1 of it, at least) on the "Top 10 Relationship Movies of All Time."

Check out their list HERE.

Even with only half of the list shown there's already plenty to debate: The Holiday?!?! Seriously?!?! Who knows, maybe in time it will be considered a classic.

In the meantime, maybe some of these should have made the cut instead (click links for trailers):

In the Mood For Love
A Very Long Engagement
Bringing Up Baby
Four Weddings & A Funeral
Brokeback Mountain
Casablanca
The End of the Affair
Annie Hall
Sense & Sensibility
Notorious
Lady & the Tramp
The Philadelphia Story
Coming Home
Now, Voyager
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner
...

Okay, now you have two lists of romantic movies to tear apart. What would be on your list?

While you think about it, swoon to these magical scenes...

Romance In The Dark

Mar20
Romantic Hollywood films can often leave me cold. Or give me sugar-overdose. But I'm not made of wood! I can get swept away too (just NOT with Swept Away). Instead, tend to swoon over films that for whatever reason, don't tend to show up on "romantic" lists. I could go on and on: Bringing Up Baby, Don Juan DeMarco, In The Mood For Love, The Thin Man, Wings of Desire, Rebecca, Edward Scissorhands, Notorious... Am I alone here? Are there films that that make your heart skip a beat, but your friends can't figure out why?

Celebrity Wedding Rumor Update

Mar11

Despite reports that actress Sienna Miller accepted boyfriend Rhys Ifans’ third proposal, her publicist says the couple is not engaged. OurWeddingDay is disappointed. We were looking forward to seeing what dress the fashionista would wear on her big day because whether you love or don’t quite understand Miller’s style, the dress certainly would have been buzz worthy.

Which celebrity wedding are you most excited to see?
