Gowns for Plus-Size Brides

Oct30

Looking for a full-figured wedding gown, but not sure what looks best?

If you’re a plus-size bride, the most important thing to remember when choosing a wedding dress is to pick an outfit that makes you feel fabulous. There’s no rule that says you can’t wear a mini dress; as for shoes, the heel’s the limit. Many full-figured women love to show off their curves and do so with pizzazz. It’s your wedding, and your body, so work them both.

HD Wedding Videos Make Every Day Better

Oct29

Suzanna & Kegan Part 2! from Michael Antonia on Vimeo.

We've mentioned before how enamored we are of adorable wedding videos, and in particular those found on The Flashdance Blog (which is a fantastic compilation between Max Wanger, the Our Labor of Love photographers, and dj The Human Jukebox).

The video above is of Suzanna and Kegan's wedding filmed by Brian, and we may or may not have watched it at least 15 times on repeat.  And as a side note, we think the idea of sparklers at a wedding are a superb summer wedding idea.  Think of the photo/video opps!

How the First Couple Affects Modern Married Life

Oct29

The New York Times published an article this week called The First Marriage, all about how the Obama's personal relationship is being affected by their professional and political life, and influencing other modern marrieds.  It's an interesting angle to explore: Can a couple truly be equals when one of them is the President?

Check out the full NYT article here.

Okay, very few of us will ever be (or be married to) a President.  Still, it's an interesting scenario to compare against the different responsibilities and power dynamics that exist in all marriages.

We're not a political blog at all; we just like to talk about love, romance, wedding planning and married life... and we think their married life looks pretty cool!  However you feel about Obama as our President, you have to admit that it's kinda great that he's keeping "date night" alive in spite of his schedule, and his opponents attempts to turn his life with his wife into something political they can attack.

Do Churches Have the Right to Cancel a Wedding Over the Couple's Outfits?

Oct29

Just in time for halloween!

The New York Daily News is reporting that church officials have called off the wedding of Lisa Panensky and Jim Nieves when they found out the happy couple would be dressed in costumes and walk down the aisle to The Munsters theme music.

Oh, yeah: the church in question is the same church referenced in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow!

You'd think they'd be used to such requests!  Then again, maybe that's the issue: Maybe they're sick of such requests!

What do you think?

Wedding Traditions to Retire

Oct28

We just posted a new article about wedding ceremony and reception traditions that you may want to retire.

A big part of your wedding day involves tradition; the cake-cutting, the vows, and, most important, that man and wife thing. However, unlike your new love, there are some traditions that might seem outdated. Unless you’re nixing a family or religious tradition whose absence might offend loved ones, there’s nothing wrong with “retiring” a wedding tradition.

We talked to 5 wedding experts about what they would nix from their weddings.  Check out how they answered here.

Are there any ceremony or reception traditions that you may cut from your wedding?

The Amazing Super Mario Marriage Proposal

Oct27

Check out this amazing video of a wedding proposal via a video game!

We love how she notices the game is moving along a little differently... and then there's text spelled out in gold coins... and then her finance enters the room and gets down on one knee!

The best part?  When the dog does a happy dance around them at the end.  I guess that means she said "yes."

We love it!
