Explore Colorful Wedding Gowns and the Tradition of White

Nov18

Considering a non-white wedding gown?  Check out our new article about the "tradition of white" in bridal attire.  We discuss everything from seasonal color choices to what to tell a resistant mom!

The white wedding dress goes back to Egyptian times, when it was believed that the color symbolized virginity and celebration. Since then, brides have gone from wearing colored dresses to Church clothing and, with Queen Victoria, back to white. The second-marriage “no-white” requirement is a fairly modern custom, and nowadays brides are free to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in.

Penelope Cruz is Allergic to Discussing Her Engagement to Jarvier Bardem?

Nov18

We've been wondering about Penelope Cruz & Jarvier Bardem's engagement for a while, but while a friend of theirs confirmed it was true in early October, Penelope still won't discuss it.

In this clip from the David Letterman show last night, Penelope says, "I don't feel comfortable talking about my private life in public... I've been here a few times with you, you know I'm tough. One thing I don't do, I don't lie about my personal life... It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I am allergic to that."

She probably is engaged, and we'd love to hear her talk about it, but we also love that she keeps her personal life private.  With so many what-are-they-famous-for? starlets running around sharing everything (we're looking at you, Khloe), it's nice to see such a talented, beautiful, classy woman keeping romance sacred.

On the other hand, if we snagged Jarvier Bardem we'd be shouting it from the rooftops!
