The New York Times published an article this week called The First Marriage, all about how the Obama's personal relationship is being affected by their professional and political life, and influencing other modern marrieds.  It's an interesting angle to explore: Can a couple truly be equals when one of them is the President?

Okay, very few of us will ever be (or be married to) a President.  Still, it's an interesting scenario to compare against the different responsibilities and power dynamics that exist in all marriages.

We're not a political blog at all; we just like to talk about love, romance, wedding planning and married life... and we think their married life looks pretty cool!  However you feel about Obama as our President, you have to admit that it's kinda great that he's keeping "date night" alive in spite of his schedule, and his opponents attempts to turn his life with his wife into something political they can attack.

Apparently the Obamas are invited to weddings of people they've never met all the time!

Check out this article which explains that so many "average" couples are honoring the First Couple with invites because "politics is sexy again."

Barack Obama's approval ratings continue to be much higher than Presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush Sr., and most couples don't actually expect them to attend -- they just want a letter with the Presidential Seal for their wedding scrapbook.

Last week we announced the engagement of a political power couple: Michelle Obama's spokeswoman (Katie McCormick) and Barack Obama's State and Defence Press Secretary (Tommy Vietor).

Well, they're not alone!  Politico just posted this piece on 15 Obama administration power couples.

Awwwww.  Who knew D.C. was so romantic?  Before long, they'll turn the Potomac into the Tunnel Of Love!

Michelle Obama's spokeswoman just got engaged to Barack Obama's State and Defence Press Secretary... while both were working in Paris!

Katie McCormick and Tommy Vietor certainly know how to combine business and pleasure.  Not to mention all but guaranteeing that the First Couple will be in attendance at their wedding!
